Lure & Rig Workbench

Start with your proven small profiles. Change depth, route and speed before assuming the color is wrong.

01 · 1/32-oz white grubYour high-confidence start for bluegill and crappie. Slow swim or pendulum fall.
02 · Micro minnowCast beyond bait or shade; retrieve through the target lane.
03 · Small popperWork calm morning or evening water with long pauses.
04 · Inline spinnerUse only when the hook and total profile fit the fish you see.
05 · Float + baitSet the float so the bait rides just above cover or bottom.
06 · Aberdeen + split shotMinimal hardware for natural fall and smaller mouths.
07 · Beetle-spinCompact search option for stained water and open cover edges.
Know the water

Read Structure Before the First Cast

Begin close. A productive bank is a connected route from shallow cover to the nearest depth.

ApproachStay back from clear shallow water. Observe wind, shade, bait and surface movement before stepping onto the edge.
First passCast parallel to the bank through riprap, grass and dock shade. Fish the closest water before bombing long.
Second passCross the first drop at 30–45°. Count the lure down so every retrieve tests a deliberate depth.
CommitWhen a fish follows or strikes, repeat the exact lane, depth and speed before changing lures.
